Math is essential in daily life. Sometimes, teachers teach math in such a way that students do not see this correlation between math and real life, because many story problems exist in a fictional math world that is divorced from real life. That is why I am thrilled about Ann Whitehead Nagda and Cindy Bickel's book Tiger Math: Learning to Graph from a Baby Tiger. The book tracks a tiger cub who is raised at a zoo, all while showing readers how to use graphs. It details multiple kinds of graphs and how they can be used.
This would be such a fun book to demonstrate how math applies to different careers and great for teaching concepts too!
