Love Flute

In Love Flute, a Plains Indians tale told by Paul Goble, a man too shy to tell a girl that he is in love with her, leaves the camp. At night the Elk Men visit him, giving him a special flute made by the animals. When he blows into this flute, it will tell the girl that he loves her. This story can be enjoyed by kindergarteners through sixth graders. The younger grades can use it to increase comprehension of the main idea and to draw conclusions. The older grades can dig deeper into the story by looking for critical and supporting ideas and hidden meanings.
